World Sight Day Challenge
Global fundraising initiative Optometry Giving Sight is urging practitioners and members of the optical community to take part in this year’s World Sight Day Challenge.
Registration is now open for the annual charity initiative, which is aiming to highlight avoidable blindness as a result of refractive error.
The campaign is designed to raise funds for projects that provide training, establish vision centres and deliver eye care services for people who are blind or vision impaired simply because they cannot access eye care services.
By registering for the World Sight Day Challenge, Optometry Giving Sight will send optometrists a free practise kit containing posters, donation boxes and wristbands etc. so you can promote your involvement to patients. Participants can be as creative as they like in their fundraising efforts and are encouraged to get patients, customers and staff involved in making pledges, participating in events, prize draws and donating funds.
Clive Miller, CEO of Optometry Giving Sight “Each year more and more optometrists, students, practice staff and optical companies are choosing to invite their friends, family, customers and patients to take the Challenge,” says Clive Miller, CEO. “It’s easy and fun. Who wouldn’t make a small donation to help give people access to the eye care they need?”
Now in its 7th year, past challenges have allowed OGS to fund 67 sustainable eye and vision care projects in 38 countries, enhancing the quality of life and improving education opportunities for many.
So why not join together with other practises this year and demonstrate just how important eye and vision care is.
If you want to contribute to World Sight Day Challenge you can donate money on or before World Sight Day, which takes place on October 9th.
